FTR Retain AAA Tag Team Titles At TripleMania Regia

FTR’s reign as AAA World Tag Team Champions will last a little longer. Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood successfully defended the titles at Triple Mania Regia, defeating rivals Lucha Brothers (Penta El Zero Mido and Ray Phoenix) in a ladder match with the help of their manager Vicky Guerrero.

The match lasted about ten minutes and ended with Harwood snatching the titles in the FTR after Guerrero threw powder in Penta’s eyes, sending the luchador off the ladder and through a table below. FTR vs. No reason was given. The two teams had faced each other earlier, which led to a scuffle before security separated them.

This is the second FTR defense of the AAA World Tag Team Championships. Harwood and Wheeler and previously defended the championship at AEW Dynamite, defeating AAA luchador Aero Star and independent Samuray Del Sol. No word has been given as to when FTR will return to Mexico to defend the titles again.

The match continues the long-running problems between FTR and Lucha Brothers, which have occurred in both AAA and AEW. FTR originally won the Lucha Brothers’ AAA World Tag Team Championship on the October 16 episode of AEW Dynamite. Penta and Phoenix would later retaliate at AEW Full Gear, where they defeated Harwood and Wheeler to retain the AEW World Tag Team Championship. The two teams were scheduled to wrestle in a match of three cascades for the AEW titles last Friday on Rampage, but the match was changed to Penta and PAC versus FTR after Fenix was unable to travel to the show due to visa issues. It is not known when two out of three falls will now occur.

TripleMania Regia was a news show apart from this match, with former WWE star Taya Valkyrie appearing via video to challenge Deonna Purrazzo to the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship, and Impact’s Willie Mac appearing with Laredo Kid to wrestle Dragon Lee and Dralistico.
