Prince William says Taylor Swift led him on stage ‘like a puppy’ as he recalls singing with US star

Prince William admits he obeyed “like a puppy” when charming pop star Taylor Swift ordered him on stage to perform an impromptu with Jon Bon Jovi.

A November 2013 fundraiser for the homeless charity Centrepoint, a cause first championed by his late mother, Princess Diana, the 39-year-old chuckles and says, “I can’t believe I’m already telling you this story… attended and Jon Bon Jovi And Taylor Swift at the event, which almost knocked me out.

And then I walked inside, met everyone, lots of handshakes to do those nights, and lots of chatting. I try to be charming and interactive.

“Every once in a while, you don’t have a good day, and it’s hard for you to make it.

When I sat down to watch Jon Bon Jovi perform, I thought, “That’s it. I’ve done my job. I’ll have dinner in a minute, and I might be able to strike up a conversation with some people, and, you know, I’m a bit out of work now.”

But things did not go according to that plan.

“I didn’t think much about what would happen next,” he adds. I sat next to Taylor Swift.

“She’s to my left—and after John sang his first song, she pauses and turns toward me.

She put her hand on my arm, looked me in the eye and said, “Come on, William. Let’s go and sing.”

To this day, I still don’t know what became of me. Honestly, so far I’m wracked with what happened next, and I don’t understand why I gave up.

But, honestly, if Taylor Swift looked you in the eye, touched your arm and said, ‘Come with me…’ I got up like a puppy and went, ‘Yeah, well, that sounds like a great idea. I’ll do it. Follow you.”

I went up on stage in a coma and then kind of halfway through the song Livin’ On A Prayer by Jon Bon Jovi, I woke up.

And I think to myself, ‘Am I standing on stage singing Levin in Prayer while I don’t even know the words? “

But there were guys and girls from Centrepoint, all of whom loved it and rejoiced away.

So I thought, ‘Well, if they’re enjoying it, the night is for them. So, I can’t be the one who’s going to screw it up for everyone. “

So I try very hard to remember a few words and sing as hard as I can.

There was a lot of sweating under the black tie. I felt like a swan, trying to keep myself poised on the outside, but on the inside, the little legs were rowing fast.

Now, a lot of people might think that I’m comfortable on stage. When I give speeches and things like that, I give a lot of them now, it’s not a problem. But I never finished singing.

William’s appearance on stage – just four months after he first became a father – has drawn comparisons to the 1978 event when Prince Charles celebrated his 30th birthday by dancing on stage with The Three Degrees.

But it soon becomes clear that far from flexing his relationship with the celebrity world, William has a more serious point.

“Sometimes, when you’re taken out of your comfort zone, you have to deal with it,” he says.

And I think we’ve come to a point in this life where we manage ourselves very carefully.

We are concerned about: How do we view social media?

‘Who said what about me?’ what to wear? There is a lot of pressure, but I think making yourself an idiot is a good thing.

“It’s okay to not take yourself too seriously and spend those moments where you leave and go, ‘You know what?'” I agree with this. “”

While William, who has been a patron of Centerpoint since 2005, may be stunned at the memory of his performance, Ms. Swift, 31, who has sold more than 200 million records worldwide and is dating English actor Joe Alwyn, has been free.

In an interview with The Mail on Sunday shortly after the event, she said: “I could hear his voice and it’s very good. Nice tone. I’ll definitely say he’s got star quality and if he wants me to sing with him again, I’ll be there.
