Liverpool must loan out Conor Bradley as they reportedly near an £8m transfer at right-back. The teenager needs his chance.
Liverpool will sign Calvin Ramsay this summer, according to reports. The Athletic are one of several outlets claiming that Aberdeen accepted a bid and the teenager will head to Anfield.
The offer is an initial £5m with a further £3m in add-ons. All in all, it’ll be £8m for the Scottish Football Writers’ Young Player of the Year. Ramsay comes with an exciting reputation and Liverpool will feel they’ve got a potential bargain.
We certainly believe the hype and the Scot looks like a fantastic backup to Trent Alexander-Arnold. And who knows? Maybe he’ll give him serious competition in a few years.
But with that come questions about other Liverpool right-backs. Neco Williams, for instance, will surely leave the club as he chases first-team football. His loan spell with Fulham was a success last season and he needs to keep that momentum going.
He’s not the only one, however, and Conor Bradley will now surely head out on loan. The teenager needs one.
Conor Bradley needs a loan
Liverpool were linked with Ramsay back in December and we wrote at the time that this felt incredibly unfair on Bradley. He’d only just got his first-team chance, playing a couple of cup games, and yet here came competition.
More than competition, in fact – Ramsay feels like a replacement. It was only last summer that reports talked about how Bradley was so highly-rated at Liverpool that they’d sell Neco Williams. Jurgen Klopp labelled him ‘wonderful’ in March.
Now the future looks quite dark, certainly at Anfield. Bradley, then, desperately needs a loan as we’re not sure more youth football is going to cut it.
Take Ramsay, for instance. Liverpool are willing to take a chance on him because he’s performed regularly in a senior league at 18. Bradley simply hasn’t had that opportunity and will never get it without a loan.
If Liverpool believe their academy product has great talent – and they clearly do – then finding a good loan for him is a must.
